An atlas built with care.
A place for the curious, the observant, and those learning to look again. A North American vision, beginning with California and a small Washington-focused Pacific Northwest collection.
A living archive. A clear beginning.
Leaf & Spore brings botanical and mycological records into conversation with carefully attributed cultural histories. This functional prototype contains 14 species records: 12 in the California pilot and 2 in the Washington-focused Pacific Northwest starter; it is not a complete flora, a diagnostic key, or a reviewed scientific publication.
Make the evidence visible.
Source checked The core summary was compared against its linked references. This does not mean every field is verified or that a taxonomic expert has reviewed the record.
Needs review Draft descriptions, incomplete source verification, provisional range interpretations, and cultural material are marked for further work. No species in this prototype has completed independent expert review.
California maps show a selected snapshot of GBIF specimen records on a US Census boundary, generalized into quarter-degree cells. Each map explains its selection and links to contributing datasets, licenses, and individual records. Specimen identifications and coordinates are not independently verified here. Seasonal collections remain approximate; neither resource establishes local absence or safety.
